Our Story

The Yummy Cake Company is run by Joanna Taylor and was established in 2003.  The company was born from her passion of good quality food and love of the art of sugarcraft.  

The first cakes she decorated were for her twin daughters' 2nd birthday, but her interest in sugarcraft began on her own 3rd birthday. Her godmother, Jackie had made her birthday cake with 3 little clowns sitting on top and she remembers sitting in the garden on a glorious sunny day just starring at the cake for what seemed like hours.  This memory has always stuck with her, though for many years she didn't consider creating cakes as a career.

After 17 years in the event management industry working as a graphic designer and audio visual technician at live events she turned her mind back to her love of cakes and began a one year sugarcraft course. Within a few months of the course starting she loved creating sugar art so much she opened The Yummy Cake Company. 

"We have had the priviledge of making cakes which have been delivered far and wide, with the furthest wedding cake travelling all the way to Miami, USA.  Many of our clients have been with us since we started and it's wonderful to be a part of their life celebrations"
